OP / RF based Best Foot Forward, staged their second annual Winter Running fashion show, last month. Hosted by Oak Park's Lively Athletics shop, this growing group of female runners were treated to the latest looks for all weather running, special discounts for the evening and goody bags stuffed w/ healthy snacks & coupons!
Here is a rundown of the latest apparel & gear that went down the 'runway':
Lole Jolt cardigan ($120), shown in Raspberry, is cute enough to wear from studio to street, yet warm enough for the most hardcore winter runners. Craft Pure Tights in a flattering geodesic pattern, will continue to trend through the winter -- and beyond -- in athletic fashion.
Visibility is crucial when running, biking, or walking in winter months. The Sugoi Zap Jacket ($160) lights up brilliantly at night as cars headlights hit; nearly all of the athletic pieces created for winter feature reflective details for safety. Accessories such as flashing LED lights and reflective vests can provide 360-degrees of visibility.
Yoga trends include wintery patterns in greens & blues, as the Alo Goddess Legging shows. Glossy fabrics, with a 'polished leather' sheen, are also on trend. The Alo Moto Jacket, uses accents of glossy & matte navy to create a motorcycle inspired look - a perfect garment to take you from yoga to coffee, or anywhere chic!
Check out these great Holiday gifts: Gotta Run Tank from Activyst ($38) proceeds go to support girls' running programs. Delicate bangles from indie design house Frosted Willow are perfect for layering, or sweet on their own ($12.99 to $17.99) Essential gym duffle from Spanish brand Desigual ($69.95)
