It’s that time of the year when the evergreen branches in outside planters

Have dried and are turning orange.

Time takes its toll.

The days are like dominos, one jostles another and they all fall down

Sequentially.

They fall like autumn leaves from a tree when the winter wind blows

Or like pages being riffled in a book.

Sometimes time seems suspended when nothing much is happening.

Sometimes time is invisible when a person is engrossed and dimly aware

Of passing minutes, hours and days.

Finally to wake up and reenter the real world.
