Jane E. Schlichting (nee Main), 87, of Oak Park and River Forest, died on Aug. 28, 2019. Born on March 24, 1932, she earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Ball State University and her master's in Education from Northwestern University. A lifelong educator, she taught sixth grade for many years and taught other educators at the University of Illinois Chicago.  

Jane Schlichting was the wife of Marvin R.; the mother of Nancy (Robert) Blackwell and Greg (Kirstin) Schlichting; the grandmother of Ryan, Evan (Shelbie) and Tara Blackwell, and Mason and Carson Schlichting; the great-grandmother of Noah Robert Blackwell; the sister of Jack (the late Sue) Main and the late Gloria Main; and the aunt and great-aunt of many. 

Visitation and funeral service were held on Sept. 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Melrose Park, followed by interment at Concordia Cemetery. 

Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park.
