The Oak Park Arms Retirement Community held its annual Polka Party in the ballroom of the Oak Park Arms on April 22. Undeterred by rainy weather and road-closing construction on Oak Park Avenue, avid polka fans gathered for a live broadcast of Jerry Obrecki’s WPNA noon radio program, “from the beautiful ballroom in the Oak Park Arms.” WPNA, the Polish National Alliance radio station, is located on the sixth floor of the Arms. Lively music was provided by the band Downtown Sound, as polka aficionados spun around the dance floor, a cheerful counterpoint to the blustery April storm that raged outside.
