Police thankful for patience in murder probe
The Oak Park police department offered no new details this week on its investigation of the double homicide of Oak Parkers Thomas Johnson and Leslie Jones, who were found dead in their Fair Oaks Avenue home April 13. Police Chief LaDon Reynolds thanked the community for its patience.
Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb reiterated the police department's commitment to the investigation, as well as expressing his sympathy for the loss, during an April 27 village board meeting.
"We lost a special couple in Oak Park: Thomas Johnson and his wife Leslie Jones. The police department and the police chief are looking at this investigation seriously and it's a priority for the chief and the department to get to the bottom of this," Abu-Taleb said. "I just wanted the community to know that the police department is on it and is on it 100 percent and getting all the resources that they need to get to the bottom of this. Our condolences to that family and their kids and their friends."

The family of Tom Johnson were friends of my parents. Tom and his sisters were a part of our families' summer activities at times. Any updates on this investigation would be appreciated.

The silence is deafening. Perhaps an update? I get the distinct feeling they know something we don't. Why?
