Enough already with the high-rises!

There's been a lot of conversation re: the newest, proposed high-rise on Lake Street. It has been said that the construction of same would adversely affect Unity Temple and I totally agree.

What isn't being said is how adversely this project would affect Scoville Park and our main library. With thousands of people using both facilities, I believe it would be a shame if the sun never shines on either of them again! People are always in the park when weather permits, but the sun will never reach them because of the proposed construction.

I believe we have enough high-rises along downtown Oak Park, and I wish that if these projects are so vital to our village, someone would suggest they be built along Madison Street.

Enough is enough!

I agree completely with Ms Nowicki. The proliferation of high rises is already too much for the air, sunlight, and traffic in our town. I can't see this being of benefit to those of us who need affordable housing, either. Come on, Village--develop a little more of Madison, but not with high rises there, either. Keep the best of Oak Park: a livable scale with sunlight, green space, and no more congestion.
