A vehicle was burglarized in the 100 block of Forest Place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 15. The burglar gained entry to the vehicle, ransacked it and made off with a single dollar.
Someone stole a black Samsung Galaxy 9 Plus from the display case of a business in the 1100 block of Lake Street, at 11:43 a.m. on Dec. 18. The offender damaged the case by purposefully falling into it and knocking it over before stealing the phone. The estimated loss is $910.
A black Giant ATX3 men's bicycle was stolen from a bike rack in the 400 block of Lake Street between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Dec. 18. The estimated loss is $386.99.
A package was stolen from the lobby area of a building in the 500 block of South Oak Park Avenue at 10:52 a.m. on Dec. 18. The man was described as wearing a red sweater with red and white striped sleeves and green trim. He also had a blue backpack. The package contained a set of bed sheets. The estimated loss is $30.
A purse that was left unattended by the door to the victim's apartment in the 100 block of South Humphrey was stolen between 10:50 and 11:09 p.m. on Dec. 17. The purse was found in the garbage cans in the north gangway of the building. The estimated loss was $10 in cash.
A bicycle was stolen from the 200 block of Scoville Avenue between 7:50 a.m. and 3:05 p.m. on Dec. 13. The thief used a cutting tool to the victim's U-lock and then removed the black 19-inch Schwinn Supersport bicycle from the bike rack at the northeast corner of the above address. The estimated loss is $379.
A package containing a handmade Afghan blanket was stolen from the front porch of a residence in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue between 6:21 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 6. The estimated loss is $30.
An envelope containing a check from U.S. Bank was stolen from the porch of a residence in the 700 block of Hayes Avenue at 3:11 p.m. on Dec. 14. No monetary loss was reported.
Someone stole three Amazon packages from the front porch of a residence in the 1100 block of South Elmwood between 4 and 6 p.m. on Dec. 14. The packages contained cream-colored cloth treat bags, dog treats, Peppermint Patties candy, and four metal straws. The estimated loss is $148.
Driving with suspended license
A 21-year-old man, of the 4800 block of West Thomas, Chicago, was arrested in the 600 block of South Harlem at 2:04 p.m. on Dec. 18, for an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for driving with a suspended license. He was transported to the station, processed and held.
Someone ignited wooden sticks that were placed near the fuel tank area of the victim's van in the 100 block of North Lombard at 5:09 a.m. on Dec. 17. The fire caused exterior damage to the vehicle.
A vehicle was burglarized in the 500 block of Clarence between 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 2:17 a.m. on Dec. 17. The burglar gained entry through means of an unlocked door and ransacked the interior. No loss was reported.
Yeni Santillanes, 38, of the 800 block of South Maple, Oak Park, was arrested in the 500 block of South Maple at 11:47 p.m. on Dec. 14 and charged with two counts of aggravated battery.
These items, obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, came from reports, Dec. 14-18, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public's help in making an arrest.
