Rise and shine hungry friends! Berwyn is just to the south and ready to meet your early morning desires. From pancakes to eggs and coffee to cocktails there is something for everyone to enjoy in Berwyn. Check out some of our recent discoveries!

Lavergne's Tavern:

Known for serving up some serious burgers, street food inspired tacos and even decadent Chicago-style eggrolls, Lavergne's Tavern, 6546 Windsor Ave., also serves up a mighty fine brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday. 

Whether you are looking to soak up some debauchery from the night before or dine while supporting the Chicago Bears, the brunch menu at Lavergne's is not shy. Most menu items will fill your belly for the better part of the day.

Breakfast purists can order eggs and toast and health conscious diners can order the vegan skillet or avocado toast, but folks looking to splurge should check out the brunch burger or loaded breakfast bowl. The brunch burger is a savory-sweet explosion featuring an all-beef patty served open faced on a bed of French toast. Topped with a smattering of cheese, maple syrup, bacon and a sunny side up egg the dish dabbles on the culinary dark side.

The loaded breakfast bowl features an assortment of breakfast meats, hash browns, veggies, eggs and a drizzle of house-made buttermilk ranch dressing.

Don't forget a cocktail. Flavorful house made Bloody Mary mix forms the base for a classic breakfast cocktail garnished with celery and skewer of pickles, olives and cheese — create your own chaser by ordering a 5-ounce beer to enjoy alongside the spicy drink.

Tastee Corner Café:

Traditionalists will adore the timeless diner feel at Tastee Corner Café, 3207 Oak Park Ave. 

For the past eight years this family-owned joint in Berwyn's Depot District has been churring out reliable breakfast favorites for folks working at the neighboring hospital or waiting to hop on the train. 

Owners are particularly proud of their steak and egg options as well as their varied skillets. The Mexican skillet, topped with eggs cooked to order, brims with chorizo, jalapenos, and cheese. Fruit topped pancakes will bring a smile to the young or young at heart. 

Mission House Café:

Tucked inside a warm and welcoming home Mission House Café, 6818 W. 34th St., attracts guests with vintage charm, friendly service and a simple, yet confident, menu of morning fare. 

The six-year-old business boasts tin ceilings, Edison bulb light fixtures and a whimsical mask-clad, wall-mounted faux deer head. In the space, customers work in the internet café while enjoying an array of gourmet coffee and espresso drinks like pumpkin spice lattes made with house-made syrup.

Hearty breakfast burritos come in two sizes to accommodate different appetite levels, while attractive oatmeal bowls topped with colorful fresh fruit appeal to health-conscious diners.

Barista, Z, enjoys working the collaborative environment and is proud to use the café to promote local artists and musicians. The café will host their next art pop up on November 7. After expenses a portion of profits from sales at Mission House Café are donated to local and global organizations like Solutions for Care in North Riverside, among others.
