Since 2002, the Kids Helping Kids annual LemonAid stand has raised $290,000 for local charities that benefit children and families. This year’s LemonAid, now in its 18th year, will be raising funds for two organizations, Hephzibah Children’s Association and Beat the Streets Chicago. Hephzibah will use the donation for Camp HepSiBah Summer Sibling Camp, a place where siblings separated and living in group, foster or adoptive homes, have a chance to reunite and spend time together. Beat the Streets Chicago (BTS Chicago), a nonprofit whose aim is to bring character, discipline and self-esteem to inner-city youth through wrestling, will use the donation to purchase their first passenger van for transporting their young athletes.
LemonAid, a Kids Helping Kids 9/11 charity fundraiser, was born from the desire to commemorate a devastating day through action. More than 80 residents of Bonnie Brae in River Forest, plaus many children, businesses, and organizations, work together to bring this annual celebration to life.
LemonAid will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 3 to 7 p.m. at 730 Bonnie Brae in River Forest. The public can enjoy ice-cold lemonade, popcorn, baked goods, kids’ activities, and live entertainment.
