Every year, the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library bring an accomplished author to speak in Oak Park for the annual Barbara Ballinger Lecture.
This year's author, Charles Dubow, is certainly accomplished. His first novel, Indiscretion, was met with rave reviews, and his second novel, Girl in the Moonlight, was published earlier this year. Before becoming a novelist, Dubow was a founding editor of Forbes.com and an editor at Businessweek.com.
And if all that didn't make him accomplished enough, Dubow also used to work as a roustabout, a lumberjack, a sheepherder in New Zealand, and a congressional aide, according to his publisher.
Come hear Dubow speak at the 2015 Barbara Ballinger Lecture on Friday, October 30, from 7 to 8:30 pm at Cheney Mansion, 220 N. Euclid, Oak Park. Both of Dubow's novels will be available for purchase that evening, and refreshments will be served. No registration is needed for this free public event.
Hosted by the Friends of the Oak Park Public Library, this free event honors Ms. Ballinger and her 32 years of library service in Oak Park, including 24 years as head librarian. Past lecture presenters have included authors Marilyn Johnson, John Searles, and Louise Erdrich. Learn more at oppl.org/ballinger.
