Tess Behr designed, planned, shopped for, and built the raised wheelchair-accessible flower bed so that the kids in wheelchairs could be a part of the garden club at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School.  She put in over 80 hours of work and completed this project for her Girl Scout Gold Award.

Thank you for choosing this project and doing what D97 failed to do to ensure equity for special needs persons.

Tess, you are a terrific role model for all young girl scouts, like my three young daughters. Congratulations and thank you for your efforts for our community.

I had the good fortune of knowing Tess when she was a student at Mann School. She's a very special young lady and this hard earned award is a true testament to her giving spirit and loving heart. So very proud of you, Tess!! What a lovely gift you've given to the students at Brooks and to District #97! May the garden flourish and grow just as you have!
