Harriet Hausman, grande dame of River Forest, turns 95 on April 8, and at her birthday party last Saturday at Maya del Sol, she served notice to keep the date open in 2024 because she's already planning her centennial.
She's in good company. Virginia Cassin, longtime village clerk and erstwhile grande dame of Oak Park, is turning 95 on April 13. Ginie moved up to Minnesota last year to be closer to family, and the venerable family home on Grove Avenue sold on Feb. 19, so a new family is filling it with warmth.
Daughter Sheila MacLaughlin says Ginie misses Oak Park greatly, but she's upbeat as always and on the mend following a fall last … well, fall. They're planning a birthday bash at the local arboretum, so if you'd like to send a card, her new address is:
8182 Excelsior Road, Apt. 306
Baxter, MN 56425-8849
According to Sheila, "Her new apartment has windows galore, which she loves, and across the street we have geese and ducks arriving to enjoy the wildlife pond as it thaws in the warmth of our spring sunshine."
You think we had a long winter?
Anyway, Ginie is hoping to be well enough to visit to Oak Park sometime this summer.
Can't be soon enough.
