Beginning December 18, 2017 and running through February 28, 2018, the Library will be offering winter reading programs for all ages. Similar to the summer programs, participants can read and log books for a chance to win prizes.

Adults – New Year, New Mindset

This year’s adult winter reading program has been generously sponsored by River Forest Public Library Foundation, Elan Salon and River Forest Chocolates. The Library is very thankful to our sponsors, who have contributed some wonderful prizes to the program.

Participation is very simple. Patrons can register over the phone or in person at the Adult & Teen Reference desk, then log all the books read between December 18 and February 28 online or in person. Each book logged earns an entry into a grand prize drawing for a Book Basket and Elan Beauty Salon gift card..

For an extra challenge, participants can complete the special Mindset-themed Bingo card, and be entered into an additional drawing for a River Forest Chocolates gift card! Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, by Carol Dweck is the book chosen for District 90’s One District One Book reading experience. The Library has multiple copies of the book available.

In addition, the first 25 patrons to register and log at least one book will receive a special RFPL mug prize!

Teens (Grades 5-12)

Teens can register in person at the Library. Entry slips will be located on the second floor desk. Each book read receives a raffle entry for a Kindle Fire. Participants can also claim an additional winter treat if  3 books are read. For River Forest residents in Grades 5-12.

Children (Ages 2-10)

Days off from school= extra time to read! Kids age 2-10 can pick up a Winter Reading BINGO sheet in the Children’s Room! BINGO is earned by completing 5 squares in a row. Everyone wins! Special winter reading prizes can be picked up in the Children’s Room by Feb. 28.
