What does your business do & what sets you apart from others in your industry?

& then there was well is a brand new studio (we opened January of 2020!) rooted in the practice of yoga and mindfulness with a deep seated commitment to community. Outside of yoga and mindfulness practices, we gather for a studio book club, community workshops led by community members sharing skills, yoga based workshops led by our teachers, social gatherings and more. We offer workshops and classes dedicated to providing financial support to the larger community and we take a public stand defending social justice. We support local businesses and one another as we navigate life together.

What is "super" about your business?  Why is it special?

The growing community at & then there was well and each person's willingness to support our journey has kept us afloat during an incredibly difficult time. When you come to our studio, whether you are local and able to practice in person, or you are across the country practicing virtually, you are a part of this community and you are so incredibly special to the mission of this space.

If you could pick a superpower, what would it be?

Time travel---backwards! There are so many people from the past, both well known and generally unknown, I would love to meet over coffee or a cocktail and talk for hours about life and fighting the good fight.

What is one thing you have had to do to "pivot" to survive the Covid shutdown?

Everyone tells you what a challenge it is to open a small business, but no one could have prepared me for a global lockdown less than 60 days into my first year. Perhaps the ability to adapt is innate, or maybe it's the years of constantly shifting in the nonprofit sector. Regardless of why or how, the need to pivot to stay open beyond two months was critical. So, I took our classes virtual and then outdoors. Once outdoors, I kept teaching virtual classes and slowly welcomed in the teachers who had been teaching prior to the shut down to bring their classes outdoors as well. Once we could move inside, too, all three options were available to students. We are now fully indoors due to the change of weather, and we have just launched an incredibly affordable virtual option for students. Our Virtual and Hybrid Memberships include access to in studio classes in person (hybrid option) and/or live stream classes (hybrid and virtual options), as well as access to our on demand video library.

Name one thing you LOVE about our Chamber?

Meeting new and veteran small business owners experiencing similar circumstances and learning from each individual. The support from the Chamber has been consistent during such an inconsistent time to own and operate a business.

What's the weirdest thing you sell or offer? Or have there been any odd customer requests?

The time and space to be still and get to know yourself. Who does that?! We all should!

Name three of your favorite local businesses (besides yourself, of course!)

My list is pages long, friends. Do all the local business supporting! We need the love and we love you right back!
