By Jim Bowman
I googled "buchanan oak park shut up" and NOT UNTIL the 11th Google page, ten sightings each page, did I find NO COVERAGE of Trustee Buchanan's ordering three fellow trustees, including the mayor, to stay out of an important discussion -- while apparently unbeknownst to her, SOMEONE WAS VIDEOING THE WHOLE THING.
And later would be putting it on the internet TO STUNNING EFFECT, no one presenting the incident as something to admire.
And THEN one of the trustees went on a radio talk show.
And THEN 18 angry citizens tore him to rhetorical shreds at a public meeting.
And THEN publisher Dan Haley tore into the talk show host as "a right-wing conspiracy hack" whose show "speaks mainly to white supremacy fanatics . . . with fake newspapers and websites." What he does is "despicable" and "dangerous." (He should argue that point, I said in a comment.)
And then publisher Dan implied such evil behavior of Dan Moroney, with his saying Dan M's being on this show "raises fair questions about his motivations." That's awful. Does Dan H. suspect Dan M. of being a white supremacy fanatic? Please.
In the wake of the Buchanan outburst, Dan H. complained not about her losing it in a public forum but about Oak Park turning up on "the repugnant InfoWars, and every other right-wing conspiracy outlet because an elected white man lit a wick."
Lit a wick? Dan, were you kidding? It was his fault that the village got such coverage and feedback from the blogosphere? Before he appeared with Proft, by the way, as I mention above. Then, unwilling to sweep anything under the rug, he appeared on Proft's show.
That's what it took for Dan H. to turn on him, apparently one of the white men "it is hard not to be legitimately, collectively, angry at . . . Plenty mad."
