Robert Buttny, longtime Oak Park resident, died on Aug. 8, 2012. Born in 1940 in New Jersey and raised in New Hampshire, he moved to Oak Park as a young man to attend Emmaus Bible School. He later taught at the Oak Park Free School, a small private school started by a group of Oak Park parents.

Mr. Buttny was licensed as a Realtor and owned his own real estate office for many years, serving at one point as president of the Oak Park Board of Realtors. For the past two years, he lived with his son, Bruce, in Chicago.

Robert Buttny is survived by his sons, Bruce and Alex, and his grandchildren, Max, Ethan, and Rowan. Services are planned for a later date.
