From its founding 98 years ago, the West Suburban College of Nursing has been a small gem in Oak Park. Rechristened as Resurrection University after that Catholic hospital group purchased West Sub, the nursing school was about to leave its local orbit when the school relocates to the city next year.

However, now comes the positive word that Resurrection and River Forest's Concordia University have teamed up for a joint nursing program that will keep local nurses training locally. The two schools had a productive partnership for many years dating back to the 1980s. But it floundered as both institutions underwent changes in leadership.

This is a small and positive development. Congratulations to all involved.
