The OPRF Huskies hockey team edged Marist 6-5 to win the 2012 Chicago Metro High School Hockey League JV Founder’s Cup. Marist scored first four seconds into the game and struck again late in the first, but the Huskies kept their composure and answered with two goals of their own in the first. Chris Montroy scored with an assist by Matt Javor and Eric DeCaro, and Matt Schmidt found the net with help from Nate Sacks and Dan Burkett to tie the game in the first period.

Sacks and Haskell Menninga scored in the second to give the Huskies a two-goal lead, but Marist answered with three straight goals.

The Huskies came into the third down by a goal, but they never lost their focus. Montroy tied the game late in the period on a power play goal and Pat Cusack got the game winner with 37 seconds left on the clock.

Correction: Actually, Marist scored in the first seven seconds, rather than four seconds, into the game.
