On Wednesday, May 30, from 7-8:30 p.m., Oak Park River Forest High School's Parent Connection will host its first Black College Night, which will highlight the opportunities available for our students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

BRAVO wraps up Hairspray Jr. musical
BRAVO's spring musical Hairspray Jr., which debuted April 27, held its final show last Saturday May 12, at Brooks Middle School.

The Park District of Oak Park and District 97 could share administrative space in either one of their current Madison Street headquarters, the vacant Volvo building on the same street or the current parking lot at Village Hall, board members from both entities said at a meeting Thursday.

The investigation into a bomb threat found Wednesday and reportedly intended for the next afternoon at Oak Park and River Forest High was continuing on Friday, according to police and a letter to parents from Principal Nathaniel Rouse.

Oak Park police arrested four Chicago teenagers who were allegedly the aggressors in a fight in the 300 block of Lake Street Monday afternoon. Police responded to a fight in progress around 3:30 p.m. on Lake Street just east of Ridgeland Avenue, said Police Sgt. Michael Richardson.

River Forest police arrested two Chicago residents early Thursday morning outside a 7-Eleven they had just attempted to rob. Police responded to the store at Division Street and Harlem Avenue at 1:20 a.m. and took Kirby Wise, 38, and Stephany Powell, 51, into custody as they tried to escape in an unoccupied car parked in the alley behind the store, police said.

The head of a local coalition knows that nobody likes to deal with the issue of growing older, but he hopes that celebrating the fact will one day help make 70 the new 50. "Nobody likes to be called a senior. What difference does it make?" said Jim Flanagan, president of the Celebrating Seniors Coalition. The group will hold its second annual Celebrating Seniors Week, May 18-25, at facilities in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park.
