According to the Hyde Park Herald, Oak Park native Jocelyn Hare is running for 5th Ward alderman.

“After years of studying urban policy in school and at work, Hyde Parker Jocelyn Hare wants to lead the 5th Ward,” wrote Jeffrey Bishku-Aykul on Oct. 15.

“Hare, 34, is a University of Chicago Harris School graduate, currently serving as a Richard M. Daley Distinguished Senior Fellow consulting on policy for Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and her staff.”

The headline describes her as a “policy wonk.”

“An Oak Park native, Hare plunged into city affairs after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2005, Hare began working in Chicago Public Schools’ human resources department, and later that year moved to its Office of New Schools to help train a team in opening new schools for Mayor Daley’s Renaissance 2010 program. Three years later she began serving as a program coordinator for the University of Illinois at Chicago’s CPS charter school, UIC College Prep, where she worked until 2013.”

Good luck, Jocelyn. Make us proud.
